This evocative photograph captures the corner view of the historic Globe Public House, located in the heart of Smithfield, London. Established in the early 20th century, the pub, also known as a boozer or bar, was once a beloved local watering hole and gathering place for the community. The Globe Public House was a proud part of the rich history of the area, which has long been associated with markets, livestock trading, and the meat industry. The building, with its distinctive red brick facade and ornate signage, stood the test of time for several decades, serving generations of patrons. As of July 2018, the Globe Public House, with its address at EC1A 9LA, was no longer in existence. The back of this photograph print reveals its trading records from 1931 and 1961, offering a glimpse into the pub's past. The building was unfortunately demolished, leaving behind only memories and this image. This photograph, taken by an unknown photographer, is a poignant reminder of the many public houses that have shaped the fabric of London's history. The Globe Public House at Smithfield may no longer be standing, but its legacy lives on through images like this one.
