EDITORS COMMENTS
This vintage print captures the magnificent ILAM HALL in the UK, a historic estate that was once owned by the Port family for over 250 years. In 1809, it changed hands and became the property of David Pike Watts. After his passing in 1816, his daughter, who had married Jesse Russell, inherited the old hall. As Jesse Watts-Russell, High Sheriff of Staffordshire in 1819, he enlisted James Trubshaw to construct a new Hall based on designs by John Shaw. The construction of this Grade II* listed building took place between 1821 and 1826, showcasing stunning architectural features characteristic of nineteenth-century style. This beautifully engraved image showcases the grandeur and elegance of ILAM HALL during its Victorian era glory. With its rich history and cultural significance, ILAM HALL stands as a testament to the legacy left behind by generations past. The retro-styled engravement adds an artistic touch to this historical piece that transports us back to a time when estates like these were at their prime. As we admire this image captured by photographer David from Arkheia Studios (UK), we are reminded of how art can preserve our heritage and allow us to appreciate the beauty found within our architectural pasts.
