King George II, 1744, (1911). George II (1683-1760) was King of Great Britain and Ireland, from 11 June 1727 until his death. He was the last British monarch born outside Great Britain: born and brought up in northern Germany. From 1727, George exercised little control over British domestic policy, which was largely controlled by the Parliament of Great Britain.
