EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a pair of Tweeter box speakers that were an integral part of a DJ setup in the 1970s. The creator remains unknown, but their craftsmanship and attention to detail are evident in this unique piece of audio equipment. The tweeters, five in total, are encased within a leather box which exudes both elegance and durability. The top of the box features a convenient handle for easy transportation, while each corner is protected by sturdy metal edges. Across the front of the box, the tweeters are neatly arranged, fastened securely with four screws on each edge. However, time has taken its toll as some screws are missing from certain tweeters. The speaker box itself boasts an all-black design with silver-colored metal accents adding a touch of sophistication. On the backside, soft leather covers every inch and is secured by staples. Notably, there is a panel towards the right side featuring three input or output holes. Although showing signs of wear with cracked leather and frayed edges, these speakers carry immense cultural significance as they represent African American heritage during this era. This photograph serves as an important artifact housed at the National Museum of African American History and Culture (NMAAHC), preserving not only musical history but also showcasing advancements made in sound technology. As we admire this remarkable piece from our past, it reminds us how music transcends boundaries and brings people together across generations and cultures.
