Manuel II of Portugal, also known as "Europe's Youngest Monarch," is depicted in this striking photograph taken in 1889. At the tender age of five, Manuel ascended to the Portuguese throne following the abdication of his father, King Luis I. Manuel's reign marked a significant period in Portuguese history, as the country faced numerous challenges both domestically and internationally.
