This evocative photograph captures the facade of the Crown Public House, located in the heart of Charlton, London, prior to its unfortunate demolition in July 2018. The pub, a beloved local watering hole and community gathering place, was a quintessential example of traditional British architecture. Its red brick exterior, adorned with ornate detailing and the distinctive "Crown and Anchor" insignia, exuded a warm and inviting atmosphere. The pub, which was operated by the Crowley Company, was more than just a place to enjoy a pint or a hearty meal. It was a hub of activity and social interaction, where friends and neighbors would gather to share stories, laughter, and camaraderie. The Crown PH was a cherished institution in the Charlton community, and its loss was deeply felt by many. Today, the site where the pub once stood is no more than a memory. The building has been demolished, and in its place, modern flats now rise.
