EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from 1973, we witness a truly extraordinary sight: a massive Cetiosaurus dinosaur on the move in Essex. Crafted by the talented Mr. Alan Ross, this awe-inspiring model stands an impressive 16 feet high and stretches an astonishing 45 feet long. As it embarks on its journey from Ramsgate to Aviemore, Scotland, via the Dartford Tunnel, we catch a glimpse of this prehistoric creature's grandeur. En route to its final destination, the Cetiosaurus takes a brief respite on Canvey Island for two or three weeks. Here, other magnificent creations by Mr. Ross will join it before they all continue their voyage together towards Scotland where an exciting prehistoric park awaits visitors. The photograph captures a momentous scene at the Kent side of the Dartford tunnel as traffic control officers ensure safe passage for this colossal fibreglass marvel. A Norton motorcycle police officer halts vehicles momentarily while our giant friend makes its way through with utmost care and attention. This snapshot not only showcases Mr. Ross' incredible craftsmanship but also highlights the sense of wonder and humor that accompanies such unusual encounters in everyday life. It serves as a delightful reminder that even in modern times, there is still room for imagination and adventure amidst our busy roads and bustling cities.
