In this photo print, we witness a remarkable moment in history as British troops from the 6th Airborne Division meet with their unexpected comrades, a Russian armoured squadron. It is May 3rd, 1945, and these men have reached the Baltic Coast of Wismar after arduous battles. The image captures an extraordinary scene of camaraderie amidst the chaos of war. Men from both armies gather together, exchanging drinks and cigarettes as they quickly form friendships. At the center stands a distinguished Russian officer who commands all troops in this area. Flanking him are British soldiers proudly representing their nation. Notably present is Lieutenant P. G Insole, serving as Liaison Officer between the two forces.
