Powell-Cotton daughters and friend
The three daughters of Major & Mrs Powell-Cotton and a friend play in the garden of Quex Park in September 1916. The children are (left to right) Antoinette Powell-Cotton (1913-1997), Mary Powell-Cotton (1910-1998), Elizabeth Worthington (daughter of Dr Worthington, the VADs Medical Officer and Birchington GP, Diana Powell Cotton (1908-1986). The Quex Park VAD Hospital opened on 15 October 1914 and closed on 31 January 1919. The hospital was run by Kent/178, the Birchington Detachment. The Commandant was Hannah Powell-Cotton (1881-1964), wife of Major Percy HG Powell-Cotton (1866-1940) of of Quex Park, founder of the Powell-Cotton Museum. Date: 1916
