Static Test Firing of Saturn V S-1C Stage
Smoke and flames belch from the huge S-1C test stand as the first stage booster of the Apollo/Saturn V space vehicle is static fired at the NASA Mississippi Test Facility (MTF), currently called Stennis Space Center. The huge 138 foot-long rocket had five engines that develop 7.5 million pounds of thrust and launched the 363 foot-long Saturn V up to a height of 40 miles at a speed of 6, 000 miles per hour. The first stage was built by the Boeing Company at NASAs Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana, under the management of Marshall Space Flight Center

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the awe-inspiring moment of a static test firing of the Saturn V S-1C stage at the NASA Mississippi Test Facility (MTF), now known as Stennis Space Center. The image showcases an incredible display of power and technology, as smoke and flames erupt from the massive S-1C test stand. The sheer magnitude of this 138-foot-long rocket becomes evident when considering its five engines, which collectively generate a staggering 7.5 million pounds of thrust. This immense force was harnessed to propel the towering 363-foot-long Saturn V into space, reaching heights of up to 40 miles with mind-boggling speeds surpassing 6,000 miles per hour. Constructed by the esteemed Boeing Company at NASAs Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans, Louisiana, under the watchful management of Marshall Space Flight Center, this first stage booster played a pivotal role in propelling humanity towards new frontiers. In this single frame frozen in time, we witness both raw power and meticulous engineering converging harmoniously. It serves as a testament to human ingenuity and our relentless pursuit of knowledge beyond Earth's boundaries. As we gaze upon this remarkable spectacle captured by Space Images (not affiliated with any commercial entity), we are reminded that exploration knows no bounds - it is fueled by curiosity and driven by dreams that transcend our earthly limitations.
