EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the grandeur of the Isis Temple, nestled within the ancient Roman ruins of Bulla Regia in Tunisia. The archaeological site, located near modern Jendouba and officially known as Colonia Aelia Hadriana Augusta Bulla Regia, offers a glimpse into the rich history of this former Roman city. The temple stands tall against a backdrop of clear blue skies, its magnificent architecture adorned with intricate arches that have withstood the test of time. As one explores these ruins, it becomes evident that they were designed to combat the intense heat and sun prevalent in this region during ancient times. Notably, Bulla Regia is renowned for its semi-subterranean housing from the Hadrianic era. These unique dwellings provided respite from scorching temperatures by partially burying them underground. Some mosaic floors have been preserved on-site while others can be admired at Tunis' Bardo Museum. Connected to this remarkable site is a small museum that further enhances visitors' understanding and appreciation for Bulla Regia's historical significance. Through Danita Delimont's lens, we are transported back in time to witness the majesty of an empire long gone but not forgotten. This vertical composition showcases both nature's beauty and human ingenuity harmoniously intertwined amidst these awe-inspiring Roman ruins.
