"Avro Lincolnian Freighter ZP-CBR-97 (msn B.2 RE376) is seen here at Tollerton Airfield in Nottingham, circa 1958. One of only three Avro Lincoln B.2s that were converted to the Lincolnian standard, featuring large pannier freight holds. Initially intended for a meat transport venture in Paraguay, this particular Lincolnian, along with its sister aircraft, underwent conversion at the hands of the Short Brothers in Belfast. However, the venture in South America never came to fruition, and the Lincolnians were left stranded at Tollerton Airfield. Despite their potential, the Lincolnians remained at the airfield until they were eventually scrapped around 1958. This photograph, taken during the final years of their existence, captures the Avro Lincolnian Freighter ZP-CBR-97 as a relic of aviation history. With its distinctive lines and large cargo holds, this aircraft represents an intriguing chapter in the annals of flight, showcasing the adaptability of the Avro Lincoln platform and the ingenuity of those who sought to repurpose it for transportation needs."
