EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back in time to the early 1920s, capturing the bustling atmosphere inside Princes Garage in Truro, Cornwall. The skilled workers of H. T. P. Motors Ltd are hard at work renovating Ex War Department trucks, showcasing their expertise and dedication to their craft. In this snapshot of automotive history, our attention is drawn to a van with the registration AF 7031 on the left-hand side. Its presence adds a touch of character to this busy scene, hinting at its role as an essential vehicle for transportation during that era. The showroom on Princes Street served as the gateway into this thriving garage, leading customers through to the workshops located on Back Quay. This building stood proudly until 1934 when it was demolished for expansion and refurbishment purposes. Photographer Arthur William Jordan has masterfully captured not only the physical space but also the spirit of innovation and progress that defined this period. His lens immortalizes a moment where craftsmanship met modernity in one harmonious frame. As we gaze upon this historical gem from Hosken Trevithick and Polkinhorn's collection, we are transported back in time – witnessing firsthand how passion and skill merged within these walls. Let us cherish such glimpses into our past as they remind us of how far we have come while honoring those who paved the way for today's automotive industry.
